All the vehicles in our inventory require routine Cadillac service. But what about electric vehicles? Do they need less maintenance overall, or do they require the same level of care? Learn about the care requirements for EVs with our experts at Fields Cadillac Jacksonville.

Maintenance Levels

In terms of professional servicing, EVs like the Cadillac LYRIQ require slightly fewer maintenance appointments at a dealership service center. This is because EVs do not need the same servicing required of a conventional gas-powered vehicle. EVs don’t require oil changes, spark plug replacement, and transmission care.

Regular trips to the gas station can also be considered a form of maintenance. EVs eliminate this part of maintenance and cost altogether.

Required Maintenance

The fact that EVs require less servicing overall does not mean they’re maintenance-free. EVs still require the following services, which should be performed by a certified Cadillac technician:

  • Tire Care – EVs require the same tire services as a regular vehicle. This includes a tire rotation roughly every six months, as well as tire alignment and balance.
  • Cabin Air Filter – EVs still require a cabin air filter to keep contaminants out of the interior. Most EVs require a cabin air filter change approximately every 36,000 miles.
  • Reduction Gearbox – EVs have a reduction gearbox in place of a transmission. This part requires occasional lubrication. This part is sealed and requires servicing from a mechanic.
  • Software – EVs require regular software and firmware updates. A technician can verify that the system has the latest installations and is virus-free.

Whether you own an EV or a conventional gas-powered vehicle, all models need regular professional maintenance, though intervals may vary. With the right care, your EV can provide many years of reliable performance and driving range. Contact our dealership to test-drive a Cadillac EV!
